Pete Marriott
In 2004, I started on building sites at 5 years old, working in my family-owned building business with my dad on the Sunshine Coast. In my third year of apprenticeship, I moved to Cairns to complete my apprenticeship, doing a mix of commercial and residential building.
After qualifying, I worked in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and Yuendumu constructing amenities for remote outback Australian communities. After cyclones Larry and Yasi devastated the region, I worked on restoring homes — and later, in the aftermath of the Bundaberg, Townsville and Sunshine Coast floods that followed.
In between, I have led teams in renovations, extensions and commercial shop fit-outs. Specialising in second-fix carpentry, I have also worked on two-storey extensions, decks, exposed rafter ceilings, and bathroom and kitchen makeovers.
